Sunny and Tyler’s wedding last fall was definitely one of my favorites of the year, mostly because Sunny is AWESOME!! I loved working with her. Sunny looked amazing for all of her sessions, thanks in part to the fabulous Lindsey Regan Thorn of Be Pretty out of Charlotte, NC. She did an amazing job of taking Sunny from a 10 to a 12! BRIDES!!! I cannot stress to you enough how important it is to have an amazing hair and makeup artist or team! You’ve put so much time and energy in to all of your planning and decisions the very last thing you want to have to worry about on your wedding day is if you are going to look your absolute best. On your wedding day you should look and feel ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!
Not only was Sunny absolutely gorgeous, but her groom Tyler definitely gets a “Hotty Hubby” award… let’s just say they both made my job very easy. So without further ado I give you Sunny and Tyler! ENJOY!!

Brandie and Andrew’s engagement session, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

Brandie and Andrew were married last Saturday in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. The first time I met them, they were both sunburnt from crabbing all day on the inlet, so I thought it would be fitting to take a stroll down the marshwalk and get some great shots of the two of them for their engagement session. Brandie also wanted to make sure and include Andrew’s adorable daughter Kaitlyn for a special family session on the beach. I love their little family! And we had a blast at their wedding. Jen and Adam’s Wedding, Wachesaw Plantation, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

After photographing a wedding last Saturday at Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, I decided that the best way to kick off this wedding season was to share a beautiful wedding from last summer’s archives. Denise and her team at Greenskeeper did a beautiful job with Jen’s vision for a nautical inspired, beautiful summer wedding. What I loved the most about this wedding, other than the fact that is was on the bluffs at Wachesaw (I mean what’s not to love about that!!!), was Jen’s enthusiasm and joy through out the day. It made photographing her so enjoyable, and I think the photos really show that. She made everything easy and the day was perfect! My good friend and fellow photographer, Meggan Goff was my second shooter at this wedding. She did an amazing job!! So without further ado, I give you Adam and Jen. ENJOY!!

Alicia and Greg’s Wedding:: Litchfield Country Club, Pawleys Island, South Carolina

Happy Holidays?
Is it time already? Was that just October that flew by us? I always know that fall is the busiest time of year but I never really accept it until it’s Thanksgiving and I wonder where the time went. We did a lot this fall, including 5 weddings in October and a number of great events for different non-profits we love and support. This season often feels like the reeping of all the seeeds sown throughout the year.
Many people think spring is the best time of year to get married here on the Grand Strand, and truth be told it is beautiful. That being said, this past October was pretty close to perfect. Although I’m grateful that some cooler weather is here, I would kill for a beach day tomorrow!!
Alicia and Greg’s beautiful May wedding was exactly what a spring southern wedding should be. It was effortless and bright and light and full of joy and laughter! It was a beautiful day!! I love shooting weddings at Litchfield Country Club. The light is always beautiful and every angle offers a beautiful backdrop. Alicia and Greg were amazing to work with. I can’t thank them enough for taking the few extra minutes when the light was just perfect to slip out and do “just a few more shots”. So without further ado I give you Alicia and Greg!! ENJOY!!

Erin and Jake Engagement Session

Living at the beach it feels as though summer lasts longer than normal. But today was one of those chilly fall days that reminds us that summer has truely past us and winter is right around the corner. As my nostalgia for longer days and warmer rays grows I decided to remind myself of some of the beauty this past season offered us. I had the distinct pleasure of working with my good friend and fellow wedding vendor Leslie Menich on a beautifully styled shoot for two very very special people, Erin and Jake. They’re getting married next May and Leslie wanted to do something extra special for them. Leslie teamed up with some great vendors to put together a beautiful photoshoot.
Knowing that Erin and Jake love the beach and being out on the water I was inspired to find a beautiful boat and try something I’ve never tried before. And a boat we did find! This vessel is one of the most magnificent sail boats I have ever seen. I am so grateful to my friends Anne and Matthew for allowing us to use their boat and especially to Matthew for agreeing to take it out for us. I didn’t know how it would all work out as I’ve never tried to photograph people who are on a boat from another boat… but as I always say the proof is in the pictures and I think we did a pretty great job! It was definitely a team effort.
Erin and Jake are an awesome couple! I know Jake really loves Erin because most men would not have gone for what we put Jake through for this photo shoot!! Thank you both for being such an inspiration and for being so willing to trust our vision. Erin, you’re so gorgeous!! I can’t wait for your bridal session!! So.. without further ado.. I give you a little dose of longer days and warmer rays.

Adam and Elizabeth’s Wedding:: Pine Lakes Country Club, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

I love black and white images. I mean I really LOVE them! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t like color… it’s just that I like black and white more. And I think this particular wedding may have proved that to myself. What was so great about Elizabeth and Adam’s wedding was that Elizabeth’s own timeless classic style lent itself to my style as an artist. So as I approached choosing these images what stood out to me the most was the emotion of the day.. the anticipation, the joy, the nerves… the parts of the day that can be not be posed or pretended.
Some of my favorite images from the day were actually snagged by my incredible photographers Meggan Goff and Rueben Long. I believe being a great wedding photographer is about sitting in the pocket and waiting for that just perfect moment. And they both have that gift. They’re superbly talented and I’m very grateful to have them on my team.

Lee and Bill Brennan’s Wedding at DeBordieu, Pawleys Island, South Carolina

As I went through these images time and time again preparing them for Lee and Bill the underlying theme I felt through out their collection was their overwhelming FAITH and committment to their family. Through out their images I saw all of these beautiful symbols of their Catholic heritage and a right of passage for Lee’s sons as they stepped up in to man hood, presenting their mother to be married. I wanted to show something different here. My hope is that when you view these images that you see past the decisions, dress.. flowers.. venue.. and see something more. I hope you see the Brennans and DAngelos as individuals, as a couple, and as a family.

Elizabeth’s Bridal Session

It has taken me quite a while to really figure it out, but I am a portrait artist. There are so many “labels” out there these days for photographers: photojournalist, editorial, lifestyle, commercial, wedding, baby, children, family, beach, sport, dog, cat, abstract, action, romance, aerial, underwater… the list goes on and on. I’d have to say I’ve probably dabbled in all of the above. I think being a great wedding photographer requires you to be pretty good at most if not ALL of the categories of photography. I don’t know another type of photography, other than maybe live combat photojournalism, that offers as much pressure as being a wedding photographer. One shot… literally. And I think I work well under this pressure for the most part. However that being said, to be allowed ample time in the location of your choice at the time when the light is absolutely perfect, to work your craft and create a beautiful expression of an individual is by far my bliss as an artist. Be it a boudoir session, or a maternity, or a mother with her newborn baby… for me this is what I love as a photographer. Elizabeth is a poised, beautiful, confident young woman. Knowing this about her, my goal was to capture the essence of her spirit… not just her pretty dress. Don’t get me wrong, the gown is incredible, but I believe as an artist she could be sitting in a parking lot in jeans and a t-shirt and it is still going to be my goal to capture who SHE is… this is my art.

Kara and Ryan’s Engagement Session:: Mt. Pleasant, SC

I love October weddings. There’s a reason it’s the busiest wedding month of the year… because the weather is perfect! Ryan and Kara are planning an October 7th wedding at the magnificent Alhambra Hall in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Alhambra Hall is nestled in the Old Village section of Mount Pleasant and overlooks the Charleston Harbor. The fabulous Della Ramsey is planning and coordinating the event, so I am certain it is going to be absolutely gawjuss!! Della has impecable attention to detail and an eye for all things beautiful. I am really blessed to get to work with such wonderful couples and amazingly talented people.

Charleston Fashion Week 2011:: Bridal

I LOVE this time of year!! Everything is in bloom. The weather is perfect. I’ve been shooting bridal portraits and preparing for all of the spring weddings we have. This year I kicked the season off with a real treat. I had the privledge of attending Charleston Fashion Week’s bridal shows under the big tent!! The Little White Dress is a beautiful bridal boutique in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Their sister store Maddison Row, located in Charleston, South Carolina invited me to be their exclusive photographer for their premier show at CFW. I could not have been more excited!! I had a blast. I was so inspired by all of the beautiful fabrics and textures and styles. The very first look of the show, a Vera Wang Couture, continues to be one of my favorite gowns I’ve ever seen. Like water, it literally flowed down the runway.
The highlight of the day had to be meeting Carol Hannah!! Carol was a finalist on season 6 of Project Runway. Probably one of my favorite shows of all time!! Her final look, a black swan inspired BLACK wedding gown, stole the show! Feathers, tool, fabulosity!!!! What more could a girl ask for?? Carol is not only supberbly talented, she is also gracious, funny, and sweet. It was really a treat getting to meet her. So without further ado, I give you Maddison Row for CFW 2011!!
